Welcome to the team. By this point, you should have completed onboarding and stepped into your role as a Route Manager. This page covers the standards, systems, safety rules, and service process required to operate your own route at The CanMan standard.

  • Hair neatly trimmed

  • All tattoos covered

This is non-negotiable. Customers judge us before we say a word.

Training & Systems

Training

During training, you will learn the full day-to-day operation of the role and complete a written test to verify understanding.

Day 2 Video — Field Training & Operations

Systems Setup

  • GorillaDesk — CRM, customer database, scheduling, routing, and KPI tracking
  • Connecteam — Team app for PTO tracking and clock-in/clock-out
  • Applause — NPS tracker and customer review platform
  • Payroll — Wages, bonuses, and direct deposit
If it’s not in GorillaDesk, it didn’t happen.

Training Timeline — First 5 Days

Day 1
Introduction Day
  • Company overview
  • Systems setup (GorillaDesk, Connecteam)
  • Review expectations, standards, and safety basics
Day 2
Ride Along (Field Training)
  • Shadow an experienced Route Manager
  • Observe full route execution
  • Learn truck operation and cleaning flow
Day 3
Ride Along + Support
  • Begin assisting with cleanings
  • Practice SOP steps under supervision
  • Start using systems in real time
Day 4
Ride Along + Support
  • Increased hands-on responsibility
  • Perform portions of route independently
  • Continue refining speed and efficiency
Day 5 — Milestone
Nursery Route
  • Run a light route with support available
  • Execute full process from start to finish
  • Demonstrate readiness for solo operation

By Day 5, you are expected to confidently operate your own route at The CanMan standard.

Daily Routine

7:00 AM
Warehouse. Truck ready. No delays.
7:30 – 8:00 AM
Arrive at first job.
8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Run scheduled route.
END OF DAY
Close out route and report issues.

Truck Safety & Operation

Pre-Route Checks

Safety Equipment

Driving Rules

  • 15 MPH in neighborhoods (STRICT)
  • Left two lanes on highway
  • No phone usage
  • No rolling stop signs
  • No more than 70 MPH on highways
  • Turn signals required
  • Stay alert
All trucks are monitored by Samsara — in-cab AI tracking on every route.
Critical Rules — Non-Negotiable
  • No texting and driving — 2-strike policy
  • Speeding in neighborhoods = immediate termination

In Case of an Accident

  1. Stay calm
  2. Ensure your own safety
  3. Check on others involved
  4. Call 911 if needed
  5. Notify your manager
  6. Move to a safe location

Can Cleaning SOP

Arrival & Pre-Check

Cleaning Process
  1. Load cans into lift
  2. Run cleaning system
  3. Clean exterior
  4. Rinse & detail
  5. Dry and deodorize
Closeout
  1. Return cans properly
  2. Take after photos

Route Rules

  • NO blocking driveways. Always park on the street or in a spot that does not block the customer’s driveway.
  • NO walking through grass. Use driveways, sidewalks, and paved paths only. Never cut through a customer’s lawn.

Complete before first day on route

1. Verify Insurance

  • Confirm active insurance on file before start date

2. Uniform Ordered

  • Polo

  • Employee added to QuickBooks payroll

4. Apps Logged In

  • GorillaDesk

5. Get Onboard Training Documents

  • All training documents collected and reviewed

6. Inputted into Samsara

  • Driver profile created in Samsara

7. Add to Payroll Report

  • Added to weekly payroll tracking report

8. Add to Monthly Newsletter

9. Set Up Gas Card

  • Gas card issued and activated

10. Give Facilities Key

  • Facilities key issued and signed for
