DFW Pest Protection
Protect your home from the costliest pest in Texas — termite inspections, treatment, and recurring protection.
Overview
Termites cause more property damage in the United States every year than fires, floods, and storms COMBINED — and Dallas-Fort Worth sits in one of the most active termite zones in the country. North Texas homeowners face two primary termite threats: subterranean termites (the most common, building mud tubes from soil into the structure) and Formosan termites (the most aggressive, capable of destroying a home's structural integrity in months, not years).
What makes termites so dangerous is how invisible they are. Most DFW homeowners don't see a single termite until significant structural damage has already happened. By the time you spot a mud tube on the foundation, a sagging baseboard, or a swarm of winged reproductives in spring, the colony has typically been active for 3-8 years. Most homeowner's insurance does NOT cover termite damage — repairs can run from $5,000 to over $100,000.
The CanMan offers two pillars of termite protection for DFW homes: thorough inspections to catch active infestations early, and recurring treatment programs (Sentricon bait stations and liquid termiticide options) that create a long-term barrier between your home and the soil where termites live.
Warning Signs
Pencil-thin mud tubes running up exterior walls, slab edges, garage corners, or pier-and-beam supports.
Large groups of winged termites emerging from walls, windowsills, or outside near foundations — usually in March/April after rain.
Piles of small translucent wings near windowsills, doorframes, or light fixtures — leftover from a swarm event.
Baseboards, door frames, window sills, or studs that sound hollow when tapped — termites eat from the inside out.
Why It Matters
Heavy termite damage can compromise load-bearing walls, joists, and subfloors — eventually causing partial collapse.
DFW termite repair jobs commonly run $5K-$50K+ and are almost never covered by homeowner's insurance.
Termites eat from inside the wood. By the time damage is visible, it's already extensive — and inspections only see the surface.
Active termite history and damage history significantly impact resale value and can torpedo deals at inspection.
How We Solve It
Full inspection of home and yard — we pinpoint the species, the entry points, and the conditions feeding pressure on your property.
Treatment built around YOUR property — exterior barrier, foundation, eaves, harborage zones, and any interior activity. Not a one-size-fits-all spray.
A protective perimeter around the foundation that stops incoming pests before they reach the structure.
Bait stations, traps, and routine inspections catch new activity before it becomes an infestation.
Quarterly visits keep the barrier fresh, address seasonal pest pressure, and include free reservice between visits.
North Texas Context
Subterranean termites are active across the entire DFW metro — every county, every neighborhood, every age of home. Older homes in East Dallas, Highland Park, University Park, Lakewood, Oak Cliff, and Fort Worth's historic districts have decades of termite pressure to manage. Newer homes in Frisco, McKinney, Prosper, Celina, and Anna aren't safe either — slab construction near disturbed soil and exposed grading is a termite magnet. Formosan termites have established colonies in parts of southern DFW and are spreading north. The CanMan recommends annual inspections for every DFW home, regardless of age, and a recurring termite protection plan for homes in higher-risk areas.
Questions Homeowners Ask
Common signs: mud tubes on the foundation, hollow-sounding baseboards or trim, swarms of winged termites in spring, or discarded wings near windowsills. Many infestations have no visible signs — annual inspections are the only reliable check.
Sentricon uses bait stations placed around the home to eliminate the colony. Liquid termiticide (like Termidor) creates a chemical barrier in the soil. Both work — choice depends on home construction, landscape, and homeowner preference.
Annually at minimum. Homes with prior termite history, slab construction, mulch beds against the foundation, or moisture issues should consider every 6 months.
Almost never. Termite damage is considered preventable, so it's excluded from most policies. That's why annual inspections and recurring protection matter.
Sentricon bait stations provide continuous protection as long as service is renewed annually. Liquid treatments typically protect for 5-10 years depending on product and conditions.
Spot treatments rarely kill the colony. Without addressing the queen and the full nesting site, termites usually return — often worse than before. Professional treatment is the only reliable option.
A mature subterranean colony can consume a pound of wood per day. Significant structural damage typically takes 3-8 years from initial infestation.
Moist soil against the foundation, mulch beds touching the house, wood-to-soil contact, plumbing leaks, poor drainage, and any wood debris near the structure.
Swarms don't bite or sting, but they're a major red flag — they signal an established colony nearby. Always have a swarm event inspected.
Far less than termite repair. Annual Sentricon service or liquid treatment is a fraction of the cost of even minor structural repairs. Quote in under 60 seconds.
